Star Force Music Clips
The following songs are original works inspired by Star Force.
I hope you enjoy them! Note that most of these are "works in progress",
which means that I will have "full" versions of them at some point in time.
Note: the mp3's may not be exactly the same as the midis.
The mp3's represent the earliest form of the song and were recorded by plugging my keyboard into my computer's sound card, recording it as a wav file, and converting it.
The midis were written using midi software and may have been lengthened, expanded, or changed a bit since the original concept.
- The Theme from Star Force --
Variation 1 (midi, mp3) or
Variation 2 (midi, mp3)
This is the main theme for the entire Star Force series.
I envision it being played as the five Starfighter pilots are walking into
the launch chamber, with the ships themselves towering over them. The opening sequence
for a Star Force movie that doesn't exist.
There are two, slightly different variations of the tune.
The first variation is simply a lone trumpet and a drum. This was the original form of the song.
The second has some chords being played in back of it, with no drum. Gives it a different feel.
(Note that the version of the theme song in the "Star Force Suite" is actually a combination of both --
the chords and the drums.)
- Marie's Theme (midi, mp3)
Another song written for my wife ("I Love You" was the first), and also for her character on Star Force.
A slow piece, with a strings ensemble and a violin playing the lead. (Note that the
midi mixes in a second theme part-way through, unlike the mp3.)
- Minuet
(Version 1, Version 2)
This is a nice little dance piece in 3/4 time. It's not quite a
waltz, not really a minuet, not quite sure what to call it. But
here it is. There are really two themes -- one done in the major
key and one with a more minor slant to it. It's done totally with
strings. There are probably more variations of this song than any
other song I've done, but I've only posted two:
The first one is almost the piece as it was originally conceived.
The second one takes the first piece and adds in a (very lame) violin solo.
Expect a better version soon.
- Evening (midi, wav)
A slow, majestic synth piece.
It feels like there should be some lyrics, but I don't have any at the moment.
- Josh's Theme (midi)
A song from my "Jam Session" tape (plugged my keyboard into my stereo, banged around for a bit, and recorded it.)
The theme song for Joshua Carpenter, the lead character in Star Force.
This version is done with strings and French horns. The original (which
I may never post ...) was piano only.
- Spacewalking
Another song from my "Jam Session" tape. Very slow, gives a sense of floating
around in outer space. Started off as an unnamed part of the Orchestra Suite below.
Then I gave it a name and lengthened it a bit.
Midi coming soon!
- Only a Dream
This was actually the first midi to ever come off my "Jam Session" tape.
(It's also the first time I've been called a "jerk" for writing a song,
but I've been told it's a term of endearment ...) Actually, except for
the first few bars, it's nothing like the version on the tape. The tape
was just a flute and some chords, while the midi version is mainly strings,
with the flutes taking a back seat after the first two bars.
It's sort of a "dream sequence", starting with someone drifting off
to sleep, and then a nice, relaxing melody after that.
The midi doesn't sound very good, but it sounds really nice with the midi
converted to an mp3. I'll have to post that sometime.
- Star Force Orchestral Suite
A collection of all of the above tunes, with some others thrown in.
Sort of a "Ending Credits" conglomeration of Star Force music.
The version posted here is a very short version of the piece. A longer one
is in the works as we speak. Song order is:
1 - Star Force: Main Theme, 2 - Spacewalking, 3 - Ballad/Minuet/Dance,
4 - Marie's Theme, 5 - I Love You (For Louise) [which isn't a Star Force
piece, but I ended the song with it anyway.]
